From Germany to Our Orchard: Why We Grow Black Currants!

From Germany to Our Orchard: Why We Grow Black Currants!

Our first black currant harvest of 2025 has begun, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Black currants aren’t widely recognized in the U.S., but they’re a staple in Europe. Claire here–growing up in Germany inspired me to grow them here in America, and now we’re proud to cultivate three exceptional varieties: Whistler, Blackcomb, and Stikine.

If you’re new to these little powerhouses, you’re in for a real treat! Not only are they delicious, but they also pack more antioxidants than blueberries and contain more vitamin C than oranges. Their potent antioxidant levels have even been known to help slow the progression of certain eye diseases.

We offer our black currants fresh, dried, and in powder form—perfect for adding a nutritional boost to your smoothie, oatmeal, or yogurt! Our dried currants and powder are certified organic and contain no sugar or additives. They will be available again soon for nationwide shipping, and make a great gift or staple in your pantry.

We’re also working on expanding our line of black currant products, so stay tuned for exciting new releases!
